I think Trouba's massively underrated! Has he broken out offensively, no, but he's a solid solid young dman.

Nothing of consequence will happen for a few months now.

after that, a couple interesting things here and there until the trade deadline... which will be disappointing.

How does Trouba solve the winger for JT issue?

Yes. Figure out how the NHL does not shutdown right after July 1.

The Arizona ball was chewed up by his dog a few days ago and hasn't been replaced yet. Until further notice....no Arizona roomers.

One trade that could work well for both teams:

To WPG: Calvin de Haan, Mattew Barzal, and Michael Dal Colle

To NYI: Jacob Trouba, 2017 Winnipeg 2nd Round Pick

What are your thoughts....

How does this work for the Isles as they need a #1 wing for JT and they are giving up a very promising center propsect in Barzal and another forward prospect in Dal Colle? Islanders do not need defense. I rather not give up Barzal, but if I do trade him it needs to be in package for a #1 wing.

Make that 2nd a 1st and maybe the Isles consider it. No way you get both Barzal and Dal Colle.

Isles do not even make it for a #1. They do not need more prospects or picks. If you are going to give up Barzal, it has to be for the #1 wing for JT.

Pass.

We have no need for another RHD. At the price Trouba would cost, I'd rather take my chances with Pulock...who could very well end up as a comparable defenseman.

Barzal has a very real chance at making the team. The organization is super high on him, he's not getting traded for a defenseman that we don't need.

If this was 6mo ago and we wanted to pay that price for Trouba and then flip him or Hamonic for Hall...well that's a different story. But that's all done with now.

Barzal has always reminded me of a young Giroux. Comparisons are the devil but he's a blue chip prospect no doubt.

Montreal really has no one the Jets want.

Outside of guys like Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher there is no one. I would have done a PK Subban trade for Trouba.

I'm with you in terms of not liking comparisons, but I have heard Giroux's name thrown around in regards to describing Barzal's style of play. Seems like, despite being a natural center, he'll probably be pretty interchangeable between C/RW.

I was floored when BOS passed on him 3x in a row and once I saw the Isles trade into the 16 spot, I was shouting at the TV for them to pick him.

edit: After a little digging, Barzal has actually been quoted as saying he tries to model his game after Giroux and Datsyuk.
